5 Instagram Post Types That Actually Build Trust (and How to Make Them in Canva)

Let's be real for a second: you could post every single day and still not be converting followers into clients if you're posting the wrong things.

Not wrong as in bad content. Wrong as in—content that gets likes but doesn't actually build the kind of trust that makes someone think okay, I want to work with her.

There's a difference between content that entertains and content that converts. And for CEO moms building personal brands—women who don't have time to post ten times a week and hope something sticks—knowing which posts actually do the heavy lifting is everything.

These five post types are the ones I come back to over and over again for myself and my clients. Each one is doing something specific for your audience's trust. And each one? Completely doable in Canva—especially if you already have your brand kit set up (here's how to do that if you missed it).

The “Here’s What I Believe” Post

(a.k.a. your values-driven content)

This is the post where you take a stand — not in a dramatic, pick-a-side way, but in a this is how I see things way. You share your honest take on something in your industry, your approach to business, or what you think most people get wrong about your niche.

Why it builds trust: People don't buy from people they agree with on every single thing. They buy from people who have a perspective. A clear point of view signals expertise and gives your ideal client something to rally around.

Example: "Hot take: you don't need a perfect brand to start showing up on Instagram. You need a clear message and the willingness to be consistent. Here's what I mean…"

→ The template for this one is in the free pack — it's a clean, text-forward carousel layout that's made for opinion-led content.

The “Behind the Scenes” Post

(real life, not a highlight reel)

Not a photoshoot. Not a perfectly curated flat lay. A genuine look at how you actually work — the nap window hustle, the Notion board, the stack of sticky notes, the half-drunk coffee that went cold again.

Why it builds trust: Because your ideal client IS you. She's also working in the margins of motherhood. When she sees you doing it too — messily, imperfectly, really — she feels seen. And people hire people who get them.

Example: A photo of your actual desk setup (monitors, baby monitor, snack situation and all) with a caption about how you got three client emails done during one nap.

The “Quick Win” Tutorial Post

(teach them something they can use today)

Pick one small, specific thing you know how to do and teach it. Not a whole course. Not a ten-part series. One thing, broken into 3–5 steps, that someone can go implement right now.

Why it builds trust: You're proving your expertise before anyone pays you a cent. Every tutorial post is essentially a free sample of what it's like to work with you — and it positions you as the go-to person in your space.

Example: "3 steps to write a caption that actually gets saves (not just likes)" → walk through hook, value, CTA.

→ The carousel template in the free pack is built for exactly this — numbered slides, clean layout, space for your steps. It's the one I use most.

The “I’ve Been There Too” Post

(vulnerability that serves, not oversharing)

This is the post where you share a struggle, a mistake, a season that was hard — and then connect it to something your audience is going through right now. The key word is connect. This isn't a diary entry. It's a bridge.

Why it builds trust: Relatability is currency. When someone reads your caption and thinks oh my god, me too — that's the moment you stop being a stranger on the internet and start being someone she actually wants to hire.

Example: "There was a season when I was posting every day and getting zero traction. Here's the one thing I changed that actually moved the needle…"

→ This style of post works especially well as a reel cover with a bold text hook — the free templates have a few layouts built for that exact format.

The “Client Win” Post

(social proof without the cringe testimonial graphic)

A result. A transformation. A moment from working with a client that made you both go yes, that's exactly it. You share it — with their permission — in a way that's specific enough to be believable and relatable enough to make your ideal client see herself in it.

Why it builds trust: Testimonials are nice. Stories are better. Instead of "Working with Tori was amazing 10/10" (which tells someone nothing), you're showing the before, the process, the after. That's what actually converts.

Example: "My client came to me with a beautiful business and a website that wasn't doing it any favors. Six weeks later, here's what changed…" → share specific result.

→ Pull quote templates are in the free pack for exactly this — designed to highlight one powerful line from a client without it looking like a boring testimonial graphic.

Quick Reference: The 5 Post Types at a Glance

Bookmark this for the next time you sit down to plan content and your brain is completely empty:

  • The "Here's What I Believe" Post — share your POV and attract people who think like you

  • The "Behind the Scenes" Post — show the real work and make her feel seen

  • The "Quick Win" Tutorial — prove your expertise with one actionable tip

  • The "I've Been There Too" Post — bridge your experience to her current struggle

  • The "Client Win" Post — show transformation, not just testimonials

How Often Should You Use Each One?

You don't need to post all five every week. A good rhythm for a CEO mom who's posting 3x times a week might look like:

  • 1 tutorial or value posts (the quick wins and beliefs)

  • 1 personal/relatable post (BTS or "I've been there")

  • 1 social proof or client win post every couple of weeks

The goal isn't to hit every post type every week. It's to make sure that over the course of a month, someone who stumbles onto your profile gets all five of these experiences — and by the time they've scrolled for five minutes, they already trust you.

*EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT POST SCHEDULE - PERSONALLY, I’M ONLY 4-8x a MONTH

Make These Posts Way Faster With the Right Templates

Knowing what to post is half the battle. The other half is actually sitting down and making it without it taking your entire work window.

The free Instagram Canva templates were built specifically for these five post types — carousel layouts for tutorials, text-forward templates for opinion posts, pull quote designs for client wins, and reel covers for BTS moments.

They come with a video tutorial from me walking you through how to plug in your brand kit so everything matches your colors and fonts from the jump. No starting from scratch. No decision fatigue. Just open, customize, post.
